In barely an hour, radical poets Cristobál Léon und Joaquín Cociña sketch the historical interaction between German national socialism and Chilean fascists. For instance, the “esoteric Hitlerist” Miguel Serrano was certain that, during an expedition to Antarctica, the Nazi regime had found a way to communicate with subterranean cities where the fabled “Hyperboreans” were said to have fled. The Hyperboreans is an eerie grotesque, chock-full of bizarre images and realized with means that exploit every art of defamiliarization, including stop-motion and puppet animation. Mind-blowing!
