Two years after hitting the box-office bullseye with his teenie-slasher movie Dead in 3 Days, Andreas Prochaska performed a volte-face rarely seen in horror film sagas (or indeed anywhere else): he changed genres. Dead in 3 Days 2 is a rock-hard (even for international standards) hillbilly-horror film in the footsteps of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, adorned with juicy gore effects and playing out in and among the whiteness of the Alps, which is soon infused with blood red. This highly gripping, visually powerful feast seems to have been too tough for part one’s mainstream audience, but local genre buffs are still celebrating the sequel as one of the best Austrian horror films of all time—and rightfully so! In attendance of Andreas Prochaska (director)

Andreas Prochaska
began his career as an editor for filmmakers such as Michael Haneke (Funny Games) and later had a directorial breakthrough himself with the first-ever Austrian teenie slasher, Dead in Three Days (2006), which he followed up two years later with a sequel, Dead in 3 Days 2. A highly versatile filmmaker, he landed another huge domestic success with the comedy The Unintentional Kidnapping of Mrs. Elfriede Ott and introduced us to the Alpine Western genre with The Dark Valley. In the last decade he has worked mainly for the small screen, both broadcast TV and streaming. He directed many episodes of series like Das Boot, Spuren des Bösen, Alex Rider and, most recently, Love Sucks.
