Jason Yu’s Sleep has been hailed by no less an eminence than Bong Joon-ho as the most unique horror film he’s seen in the last decade. The new marriage of Soo-jin and Hyun-su (one of the late Lee Sun-Kyun’s final roles) is put to the test when the latter begins to sleepwalk. Rather harmless at first, his nocturnal antics begin to escalate. It’s indeed impressive to see how, in his feature-film debut, Yu cleverly interweaves horror, humor and subtle observations about relationships. And if that wasn’t enough, there are also two cute Pomeranians as a sugar-sweet bonus. Listen to Master Bong and don’t fall asleep! (me)
