That biotech CEO should probably have thought twice about which employee to kick to the curb. The one he chose immediately exacts revenge with a killer virus that spreads like wildfire, transforming people into bloodthirsty zombies. Before long, fate has assembled a small community that must find a way out of the hermetically sealed company headquarters . . . Korean director Yeon Sang-ho, who previously sent us on a hell ride on his Train To Busan (SLASH 2016), is back-back-back with Colony, once again expertly slapping a new face—or two—onto the vast zombie genre. Yeon Sang-ho

is the go-to name for zombie mayhem in South Korea. He studied Western painting and, following several short films, made his theatrical feature debut with the animated drama The King of Pigs (2011). His first live-action film, the zombie actioner Train to Busan (SLASH 2016), was a worldwide success that spawned the sequel Peninsula (2020). Other projects include the sci-fi drama Jung_E and the mystery thriller Revelations (both for Netflix), the psychological thriller The Ugly (2025), as well as multiple episodes of the Netflix series Hellbound. Colony, his latest theatrical feature, marks his return to the zombie genre.
