Cosplayer Duke (Aaron Holliday, Cocaine Bear) is perpetually convinced the world has it in for him. Incessantly offended and forever nursing a fresh (petty) grievance, he seeks revenge by unleashing a flood of unsettling deepfake videos—and triggers a gory downward spiral of paranoia and mayhem. Music-video director Chris Marrs Piliero serves up a deliciously twisted “worst-case scenario” in his feature debut Appofeniacs, packed with pop-cultural references (Final Fantasy!), “edgelord” humor and juicy splatter.
