Thailand, 1941—a handful of Japanese soldiers and their prisoners are trapped in a cursed mine. The shaft has been blocked by a bomb. In the confinement of the mine, they soon discover that they’re not alone. This is the hunting grounds of a giant carnivorous centipede, and it is lurking in the deep, damp tunnels. Suddenly, enemies must band together to survive. Omukade is Thai directing duo Pakphum Wongjinda and Chalit Krileadmongkon’s prequel to their horror hit Creepy Crawly (2022). Inspired by Japanese folklore, the movie is an entertaining yokai nightmare full of action, creature terror, and claustrophobic scares—and also a subtle war parable. (Leonie Markovics)

Chalit Krileadmongkon, Pakphum Wongjinda
Chalit is the founder of Fatcat Studios, a special effects company based in Thailand that has recently branched out into making original content. Following his directing debut, the creature feature Leio (SLASH 2022), he teamed up with veteran Thai genre director Pakphum Wongjinda to make Creepy Crawly (2022), which features a shape-shifting hundred-legged monster. They revisited the story in Omukade, the prequel to Creepy Crawly, which celebrates its world premiere at SLASH 2025.
