Finally! Jason Voorhees gets his hockey mask, after he had to slaughter with a burlap sack over his head in Steve Miner’s debut, Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). Overall, the series finds its unique voice in this outing: a group of people being massacred by Jason in wildly creative ways. In this case, it’s mostly teenagers who vacation where the badly injured psychopath is hiding from his pursuers, trying to rest. As the studio decided to produce the movie in 3D, Jason is allowed to handle weapons here that deliver on the format’s potential: harpoon, machete, fireplace poker . . . Judging from this stylish affront to good taste, the third part of every series, regardless of genre, deserves to be shot in 3D! (Olaf Möller)
