After getting off a subway train, a man finds himself in a white-tiled corridor that seems to go on ad infinitum. To break out of the loop, he must follow a few rules. If he discovers an anomaly, which is to say observable changes in the scenery, he must turn back. If not, he can continue until he reaches Exit 8. Genki Kawamura’s fascinating and disturbing adaptation of the eponymous video game is a master class of applied horror minimalism with an existentialist slant that will have audiences look for clues and anomalies just like the main character to escape the nightmare.
