A Woman's Torment

(b. 1943) is a Brooklyn-born director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, and occasional actor who, between 1966 and 1989, was involved in a vast number of horror, exploitation, and pornographic films. A remarkable, contradictory, and elusive figure, she worked under a range of pseudonyms, using one of her main aliases, Robert W. Norman, for A Woman’s Torment (1977). Her work also includes legendary fare like the hardcore Angel Number 9 (1974) and Every Inch a Lady (1975), as well as the exploitation horror film Tenement (a.k.a. Game of Survival and Slaughter in the South Bronx, 1985). She was also the cinematographer of her (estranged) husband Michael Findlay and Horacio Fredriksson’s infamous splatter film Snuff (1976).
