I Drink Your Blood adds another, quite surprising ingredient to the ribald brew of Satanism and LSD: an epidemic of rabies! Its allegorical landscape lies somewhere between an abandoned one-horse town and a giant construction site, and here everyone dies of everything—by human hand or the forces of nature, premeditated or accidental. David E. Durston

(1921–2010) was an American writer, director, actor, and producer for theater, television, and film. He made several movies in the 1960s and 1970s, including the LSD-themed The Love Statue (1965). His most famous work remains the 1971 vampire-giving-rabies film I Drink Your Blood. He continued his career with the exploitation dramas Blue Sextet (1971) and Stigma (1972) and, subsequently, shifted toward hardcore gay porn. In 1985, he was present at the suspicious drowning of actress Carol Wayne and, in 1969, was involved in the drug-fueled ‘suicide’ of Diane Linkletter. The latter provided the inspiration for John Waters’s early short film The Diane Linkletter Story (1970).
