In this year’s festival trailer the protagonist blossoms—with plenty of DIY charm—from a home-alone movie nerd to a discoverer of lost worlds behind the ice(box). Where coldness and isolation give way to acceptance, she finds herself embraced by a monstrous community and watches the vast cosmos of SLASH bloom—a world that celebrates difference. Fleischwolf Kollektiv lovingly continues the trailer’s formal and concrete allusions to the garishly funny horror cinema of the 1980s with its sets, special effects, stop motion, and 3D animation.
