Guest(s) present

Sophie (Sandra Guldberg Kampp) has made it: she’s been accepted into the prestigious Mary Tyrone Tennis Academy. At a remote former monastery in Southern Europe, the athletes battle for glory on the blood-red hardcourts. But when Sophie discovers what goes on behind the old convent walls, it’s almost too late. A strange hunger is stirring inside her. Nikias Chryssos (A Pure Place, SLASH 2021) serves up Bloody Tennis with a wickedly grotesque sense of humor: a wild collision of coming-of-age and body horror, drenched in sweat and blood and buzzing with flies, all to the pulsing score of Jim Williams (Titane, Raw). (Leonie Markovics)

In attendance of Nikias Chryssos (director), Helena Zengel (cast)

Nikias Chryssos

is a Greek-German writer and director born in 1978. He studied film and video production in England and scenic directing at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. He founded Kataskop Filmproduktion in 2012 and presented his darkly comedic, twisted debut feature Der Bunker (2015) at festivals worldwide. His second theatrical effort, A Pure Place (SLASH 2021), held up a mirror to society as an absurdist farce and a vivisection of totalitarian power mechanisms. Bloody Tennis, his latest feature film, celebrated its world premiere in August 2026 at the Locarno Film Festival.
