In 2025, the exceptional British filmmaker Ben Wheatley will be a guest at SLASH together with producer Andy Starke. At the event “An Evening with Ben Wheatley & Andy Starke” on September 26, in addition to an in-depth talk, the Austrian premiere of his current work BULK and his sensational early film KILL LIST will be presented at the Metro Kino.

Ben Wheatley already raised high expectations with his striking hybrid of gangster and horror film KILL LIST, which celebrated its Austrian premiere at SLASH in 2011, and he has consistently managed to subvert them in the years since. Fearless like few other filmmakers, he changed registers, from hyper-stylized literary adaptations such as HIGH-RISE to the lavishly budgeted monster blockbuster MEG 2: THE TRENCH. Time and again, he returned to his roots as an underground auteur, as he did with his new, secretly produced work BULK. In it, real-life couple Alexandra Maria Lara and Sam Riley search for meaning amid a labyrinthine story and an army of bold DIY effects, but of course, they cannot find it.
