Jérôme Vandewattyne and Séverine Cayron, psychotronic cinema’s power couple (The Belgian Wave), also make music as the dark-wave formation Pornographie Exclusive. Which prompted them to ask other idiosyncratic filmmakers to create vignettes inspired by the nine tracks on their debut album. Their call was answered by the likes of reliable visionary Edgar Pêra, exploitation legend Buddy Giovinazzo, and Austrian heavyweight Andreas Horvath, who all did their mite to turn the low-budget picture into a real banger. But the dark magic unfolds its full potential whenever the band performs its songs live during the screening (Kino-Konzert)—as they will at SLASH—forging an unholy alliance between the flickerings on screen and the tremblings on stage.
