Four delicate creatures, the seeds of a dandelion, are adrift in deep space after a nuclear blast destroyed the Earth. Floating through a black hole, they reach a remote planet and encounter strange yet strangely familiar flora and fauna. In her hypnotic mix of children’s television, fantastical nature doc, and meditative magic-mushroom trip, Momoko Seto blends CGI with macro photography and landscape shots. Amphibians thaw to toddle out of the ice, and a sprouting potato becomes an alien vehicle. Without a line of dialogue, the achenes still brim with character. Their quest for a new home is an adventure for cinephiles young and old. (Matthias Eckkrammer)
