A deranged group of freedom fighters spearheaded by Ronald decides to stand up to this fascist and his police state. Ryan Kruger stays true to the delirious tone of his debut FRIED BARRY and delights in banter that crosses all sorts of boundaries of morality and taste, and basks in the glory of what may be the most beautiful, brisk exponent of the underrated sub-sub-subgenre of the “melt movie” in years. As oozy and gooey as the mid-1980s original, Kruger’s remake adds acerbic, souped-up political satire, which makes STREET TRASH a fun, pulpy yet profound piece of social criticism that would bring tears of joy to the eyes even of masters like Lloyd Kaufman.
