The year is 1977. Ratings are plummeting for the once-successful late-night show “Night Owls.” To counteract the nosedive, host Jack Delroy conceives a spectacular Halloween special about the occult. While mentalist Christou is quickly exposed as a charlatan in front of a live audience, the hypnotism of young Lilly, the only survivor of a Satanic cult’s mass-suicide, goes south, and all hell breaks loose in the studio. Replicating the staff, props, and atmosphere of a mid-seventies late show to a T, the Cairnes brothers weave a funny, agile, surprising, and shocking found-footage knock-off and deliver one of the best horror movies of the year.
