The basketball star Rui destroyed his career when he beat up an annoying fan during a match. Now he spends his days as a parking attendant … until he gets kidnapped one evening by none other than the notorious “rain coat bandit”, who has been terrorizing the Taiwanese harbor town Kaohisung with brutally effective money-transport robberies. The two of them join forces for the next coup, but that sparks a tricky game of cat and mouse. Can the other one be trusted? The Scoundrels is the debut feature by the Taiwanese director Hung Tzu-Hsuan and it is produced with breathtaking accuracy: this criminal (anti) buddy film is a perfect mix of excitement, action, and black humor.
